Project Description
Whispering Eclipse – Astrophoto
The blood orange glow of a partial lunar eclipse shines through the whispering clouds of a night sky. A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes into earth’s shadow. Some of the sunlight still gets refracted through the earth’s thin rind of atmosphere and illuminates the moon with a deep orange glow. The shallow angle of the sun through the atmosphere is in effect projecting a sunset onto the face of the moon. This partial lunar eclipse shows both the orange glow where the moon is in earth’s penumbra and the silver white of direct sunlight.
