Project Description

Towers of the Virgin – Zion National Park, Utah

Caressed by gentle clouds, the Towers Of The Virgin blush in the  golden light of sunrise.  An iconic scene, the towers form a grand cirque that greets visitors to Zion National Park. Utah’s first national park, Zion was originally established as monument in 1909 and then, in 1919, was elevated to national park status. Today, Zion’s relatively modest 148,016 acres serves nearly three million visitors a year.  Due to the mild climate and fertile valleys, the area has seen human use dating back at least 8000 years. It’s intriguing to imagine prehistoric humans being inspired by the aesthetic beauty of the towers.
