Project Description
Titcomb Reflection – Wind River Range, Wyoming
Fiery clouds and serrated granite blend in the evening reflections of Titcomb Basin. Remote and rugged, this other worldly landscape of rock and ice is part of Wyoming’s sprawling Wind River Range. Much of the 100 mile long range is protected by three national wilderness areas, the Bridger, Fitzpatrick, and Popo Agie wildernesses, as well as the Wind River Indian Reservation, making it one the largest roadless areas in the lower forty eight. Heavy glaciation over the last 500,000 years has carved the peaks and basins into the dramatic shapes we see today. The Winds harbor more than 40 of the highest peaks in Wyoming, some 200 glaciers, and over 1500 lakes, attracting hikers, climbers, and horse riders to this remote corner of the west.
