Third Flatiron Clearing Storm – Boulder, Colorado

A clearing storm reveals a fresh mantle of snow on the craggy folds of the Third Flatiron.  The iconic granite pinnacle rises 1400 feet from the base of Green Mountain to it airy summit.  Part of the Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks complex, the Flatirons and surrounding areas attract more than 5 million visitors a year.  The open space complex includes more than 45,000 acres of land in and around the city of Boulder.  The first 80 acre parcel near the base of the Flatirons was purchased in 1898.
