Project Description

The Dragon’s Tail – Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Wedged between the shrouded spires of Tyndall Gorge, lies the steep and forbidding Dragon’s Tail Couloir. A beacon for climbers and skiers, the 1600 vertical foot couloir provides a rugged route to Flat Top Mountain and a thrilling descent to Emerald Lake, for skiers with the skill. The dramatic terrain is tucked away just east of the Continental Divide, in the glacier carved cirques of Rocky Mountain National Park. The park’s 415 square miles harbor 79 named peaks over 12,000 feet, 150 lakes, 450 miles of streams, and over 300 miles of trails. Established in 1915, the park currently attracts over 3 million visitors annually.
