Project Description

Gullfoss Mist – Iceland

Enshrouded in mist, the Hvítá river thunders into a narrow canyon below Gullfoss, the Golden Falls. Considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Gullfoss is Iceland’s second most popular tourist destination, attracting more than a half million visitors annually. During peak summer months, hundreds of tourists line the well built paths and observation areas near the falls. Fortunately, summer also brings endless days. This photo was taken near midnight with just a one other insomniac photographer working nearby. Gullfoss was originally considered for hydroelectric power, but was preserved in 1979 for future generations.
