Fishing Blue Mesa – Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado

Beneath a marbled sky, fisherman cast their luck into the tranquil reflections of Blue Mesa Reservoir.  At 20 miles long and with nearly 100 miles of shoreline, the Blue Mesa Reservoir is Colorado’s largest body of water. It is part of the Curecanti National Recreation Area, which also includes Morrow Point Reservoir, Crystal Reservoir, and a section of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The Curecanti NRA encompasses a diverse range of ecosystems, from semi-arid shrublands to fir and pine forests. The lakes, canyons, and surrounding mountains are a haven for outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking. The 65 square mile park attracts about one million visitors a year.
