Project Description

Fisher Mesa Evening Sky – Richardson Amphitheater, Utah

A gentle cloud drifts on evening’s light above the furrowed flanks of Fisher Mesa. Hidden in the shadows, a labyrinth of canyons descends from the distant slopes of Utah’s La Sal Mountains. This dynamic landscape of more than 8,500 feet vertical relief harbors a diverse ecology, ranging from subalpine spruce-fir forests to sagebrush valleys. The La Sals and adjacent mesas and canyons are as scenic and more diverse than their famous neighbors, Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park. Within this spectacular complex of mountains, mesas and canyons are over 160,000 acres of unprotected roadless lands.
