Enchanted Cascade – Olympic National Park, Washington

The enchanted veil of Mineral Creek cascades down a luxurious carpet of moss within the Hoh rain forest. The Hoh is one of the most biologically prolific temperate rainforests in the world, producing up to three times the biomass per cubic yard as a tropical rainforest. Washington’s Hoh River valley, along with the adjacent Queets and Quinault drainages, receive some 12 feet of precipitation annually. The upper stretches of these rain forest valleys are protected within the 1441 square mile Olympic National Park. The park provides a natural refuge to more than 3 million visitors annually.
