Project Description
Great American Eclipse – Astrophoto
The Great American Eclipse derived its name from the coast to coast swath the moon’s shadow made across the continental United States. It had been nearly 100 years since the last time a total eclipse went coast to coast. In that span of time, we’ve gone from horse drawn carriages to jet planes, from mechanically typeset newspapers to digital social media on our phones. It’s safe to say that never have so many Americans witnessed a total eclipse and communicated about it in real time. For those fortunate enough to have been in the path of totality, the celestial event bordered on profound. In a few seconds, the gray day turned to night, stars shimmered, and the corona of the sun shone against a deep indigo sky.
