Project Description
Petrified Dunes Sunrise – Arches National Park, Utah
The golden glow of sunrise spreads over the Petrified Dunes and Entrada towers of Arches National Park. In the snow capped distance, the La Sal mountains quietly await the first brush of dawn. Arches National Park is a kaleidoscope of time woven stone. Within its boundaries are more than 2000 sandstone arches, the highest concentration in the world. Most of the arches, fanciful shapes and towers are carved from rust colored Entrada sandstone. The other predominant land forms, including the pale Petrified Dunes, are eroded sculptures of Navajo Sandstone. The fantastic geology of this diminutive park attracts more than 1.5 million visitors annually.
