Project Description

Passo Di Ball – Dolomites, Itay

Squeezed between the towering pinnacles of Cima (peak) Val Di Roda and Cima Pradidali, the rugged Passo (pass) Di Ball forms a cauldron for boiling clouds at sunset. At 2443 meters (8015 feet) in elevation, Passo Di Ball carves through the dramatic spires of Parco Naturale Pale (blades) Di San Martino.  Created in 1967, the 197 square kilometer (76 square mile) park was one of the first nature parks in Italy.  Its rugged cliffs are laced with a web of steel cables, allowing average hikers access to forbidding peaks. Pale Di San Martino is a diminutive but dramatic range within the greater Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy.
