Project Description
Wizened Man – Kathmandu, Nepal
The weathered furrows of a life lived with few comforts have etched wisdom into the gentle complexion of a Nepali man. With an average annual per capita income of less than $1000 US, the Nepali population ranks among the poorest in the world. What they lack in material wealth, however, is greatly offset by a richness of spirit. Kind and generous in a way the belies their limited means, the Nepalis have a long tradition of welcoming the world to their spectacular land. Attracted by both culture and landscape, visitors flock to this diminutive country, making tourism a principle segment of the economy. Within the boundaries of Nepal lie 8 of the worlds 10 highest summits, including Mount Everest at 29,028 feet. To the locals, Everest is known as Sagarmatha, or Mother of the Universe.
