Project Description

Sunset On Sand – Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado

A soft perch on cool sand provides a contemplative perspective for two hikers enjoying the warm glow of a Colorado sunset. Mountains of sand rise into the distance, towering more than 700 feet above the valley floor. The Great Sand Dunes National Park harbors the tallest dunes in North America, the result of eons of wind depositing sand at the base of Colorado’s Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The area was designated a national monument in 1932 and then elevated in 2000 to national park status. Today the park is a playground for over 250,000 visitors per year.
